About Me
I am a native English speaker having done most of my education and training in Melbourne, Australia. I have a Diploma in Teaching with a TESOL specialisation (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I can very quickly assess the strengths and weaknesses of a student and find ways to tackle those weaknesses.
One particular strength I have, is the ability to have in-depth conversations in a very diverse range of topics, such as science, technology, economics, and politics just to name a few. The advantage of this is that you can practice and strengthen the vocabulary relevant to your business or interests and grow confidence in expressing your ideas in English.
I have taught English to students of all ages; I am currently teaching English to native speakers in schools here in Joensuu, and I have clients who are business professionals looking to improve their language skills. My youngest student to date has been my son, whom I have taught to read during his pre-school years – and it has been so satisfying to see a sense of independence grow in step with his reading skills.
